A high percentage of GLCPS Seniors have already been notified by colleges that they have been accepted, including one Senior who is headed to Princeton University next year on a full scholarship. Sabrina Fay heard

The GLCPS Royals played a great game against Wareham High School on Wednesday, December 13th. It was their first game of the season. The team and Coach Matt. St. Jean traveled to Wareham for the game.

Families of New Bedford students are welcome to submit enrollment applications for the 2018-2019 school year. New for this year, GLCPS is extending the opportunity to students who will be entering grades 9 and 10, as well as those entering grades 5-8.

GLCPS joined the #GivingTuesday movement for the first time this year, asking for dollars for students, and you responded in a big way! We even raised enough to match a challenge gift from an anonymous supporter. It’s hard to believe that we have already completed one quarter of the school year. I would like to bring you up to date on a few things that I mentioned last month. First, our new enrollment policy has been approved by the Commissioner of Education. We will begin accepting applications for students who wish to enroll in next year’s grades 9 and 10, as well as grades 5 through 8, on December 1.  Our lottery will be held on March 8 at 6:00 PM. You will soon see a sign on our school that will inform the public that applications will be accepted for grades 5-10. Applications will be available on our website. Please let family and friends know of this important change in our policy.

For a few hours on a recent afternoon, we all set aside what we were working on, picked up a book, and read. It was the 2nd Annual GLCPS Read-a-thon, and the event held November 8th raised over $2,000 to purchase books for the school; books that the students will choose themselves. It is part of an ongoing effort to encourage students to spend more time reading.

We are THRILLED to share the good news regarding student scores from the Spring 2017 MCAS testing! Grade 10 scores were the highest in GLCPS history and well exceeded the state average, as well as every other high school in New Bedford, and all of the Gateway Cities!
