Our expectation for teachers and staff is to create an intentional, culturally responsive learning environment inclusive of students from all racial, ethnic, socio-economic backgrounds, abilities, gender and sexual identities, and family structures. We encourage a sense of belonging and an inclusive, positive classroom community for students where they can feel comfortable expressing themselves while developing skills related to critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving, inquiry, and interpreting information/data. Our teachers motivate learning by validating all students as asset-based individuals and fully engage students in discussion and other modalities of participation. 
 
At GLCPS, the most important quality that all of our team members possess is a genuine love and respect for children and a desire to help each one of our students succeed. We model and teach collaboration, communication, creative thinking, critical thinking and cultural awareness. Our teachers and support staff meet students and families where they are, and start from there. 
 
We take a team approach to ensuring that each of our students reaches their full academic potential and learns 21st century skills, such as technology literacy, communication, global citizenship and arts exploration. We recognize the importance of addressing our students' social and emotional needs alongside academic and skills growth. 
 
Our campus is located in the beautiful and historic city of New Bedford where Herman Melville once walked its streets and Frederick Douglass lived after escaping slavery. We are located about an hour from Boston, and less than an hour from Providence and Cape Cod. Our teachers love to take advantage of connecting curriculum with community.
