ART:  Let your creative side show! In this class, the students can let their imagination shine by painting or drawing. Paint and brushes will be provided for the students.

 

BEYOND THE BOOK:  Strengthen your reading skills while diving into exciting books, then bring them to life with hands-on activities inspired by the stories. From creative projects to real-world adventures, we don’t just read: We experience! Join us this summer as we read Seedfolks. We'll work on strengthening our reading skills, and bring the book to life with fun, hands-on activities inspired by its characters. From planting gardens to building community, we’ll learn, grow, and make a difference one page (and plant!) at a time!

 

BLOGGING FOR BEGINNERS:  Do you have a passion for writing, sharing ideas, or telling stories? Take it to the next level by learning how to create and maintain your own blog! Whether you want to write about hobbies, school life, current events, or share creative stories, this class will help you develop your voice and connect with an audience. By the end of this course, you’ll have your very own blog and the skills to keep it growing! Join us and start sharing your ideas with the world.

 

BOARD GAME CLUB:  If you enjoy battling wits with your friends or simply playing a fun game with them, this is the place for you! You will play a variety of board games, ranging from long-form games like Monopoly, knowledge games like Trivial Pursuit, card games like Uno, and any others that you and your friends enjoy. This club is for anyone interested in playing games with friends.

 

CATALAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE:  Learn about the culture around the Catalan language, one of the lesser known Romance languages, and its culture. Students will be immersed into places such as Barcelona, Girona, the Balearic Isles, Valencia, Alger, Andorra, and the South of France. We will look at the language, cuisine, history, music, dance, culture and much more.

 

CHESS CLUB:  Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics of chess or an experienced player aiming to sharpen your strategy, this club offers a welcoming and engaging environment. You will have opportunities to play friendly matches and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Join us to challenge your mind, make new friends and have fun in the world of chess!

 

COMPETITIVE GAMES:  This is a computer-based club. Work on your team building skills while competing on games such as Valorant or League of Legends. Students' access to certain games will be limited based on grade level.  

 

CROCHET CLUB:  Learn to crochet small stuffed animals and other objects. Make sure you bring your patience and your crafty side!

 

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS:  Level up your character, fight monsters, and enter into a world of fantasy! Dungeons and Dragons is a role-playing game where you get to decide what your character will do next. Join your friends in this adventure game where you will explore dungeons, solve puzzles, talk with other characters, battle monsters, and discover magic items and other treasure along the way.

 

ENGINEERING 101:  Get ready to explore the exciting world of engineering! In this hands-on program, you will dive into the basics of design, problem-solving, and innovation. Through fun challenges, creative projects, and real-world applications, learn how engineers shape our world. Whether you're a future inventor or just love to tinker, this program is the perfect place to spark curiosity and build something amazing!

 

GAME DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS:  Learn the fundamentals of game design and theory. In this club, you will learn the process of creating a game design document and the practice of test playing your respective prototypes. Make a functioning prototype and have other students play your games.

 

INTRAMURAL SPORTS:  Students will participate in various outdoor sports activities at Riverside Park. This program is designed for students who are interested in playing friendly competitive games with friends. Please come prepared with water, headgear and sunscreen. Sneakers are required to participate in this program.

 

INTRO TO COOKING:  Young chefs will discover new ingredients, learn various cooking techniques and explore cuisines from around the world. This club is the perfect place to experiment, create and share your culinary masterpieces with friends. Expand your taste buds, develop your cooking skills and have fun in the kitchen!

 

JEWELRY MAKING:  Learn how jewelry is made and work on a fun project to challenge your inner creativity. Make jewelry for yourself or share with your friends. Jewelry supplies are provided.

 

MURAL MAKING:  Collaborate with others in designing and painting art work to brighten up hallways within the school.

 

MINECRAFT CLUB:  Join us for an adventure in the world of Minecraft! Whether you're a master builder or just starting out, this club is all about creativity, teamwork and fun. Work on exciting challenges, design epic structures, explore new worlds and learn basic coding and problem-solving skills. The only limit is your imagination so grab your pickaxe and let's play!

 

PODCASTING 101:  Have you ever wanted to create your own podcast? Then, this is for you! Learn how to plan, record, and edit your very own podcast episodes! Whether you're passionate about storytelling, interviewing guests, or discussing your favorite topics, this will give you the skills to bring your ideas to life. By the end of the course, you will have created your own mini-podcast and gained the confidence to keep producing content! No experience needed; just bring your creativity and curiosity. Ready to be the next great podcast host? Let’s get started!

 

POKEMON BATTLE ACADEMY:  Catch, collect, and battle! Learn how to build the ultimate battle pack, master the different Pokémon types and energy cards, and sharpen your skills to become a true Pokémon TCG champion. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned trainer, come trade, strategize, and have a blast! Gotta play 'em all!
