The One Spring Event You Don't Want to Miss!
New Bedford - The Global Gala is coming up fast! It’s happening this year on May 9th. GLCPS Director of Development Ms. Bissonette has been working hard on this since the summer and recently shared some insight into what to expect. The Gala gives people from the Greater New Bedford area a chance to connect with students and staff, while also supporting students’ futures. All the money raised during the night goes straight to the Gala Scholarship Fund, which gives back to students directly through scholarships.
But it’s not just about fundraising! There’s going to be plenty of entertainment, too. Ms. Bissonette explained, “The evening also boasts several raffle items, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle, and provides our guests with an opportunity to engage with our senior volunteers,” Ms. Bissonette explained. Guests can also look forward to live music from the high school jazz band, along with GLCPS alumna Sofie Lopes. It’s the perfect mix of fun, connection, and community. Gladys Nieto Hernandez, an 11th grader, attended the Gala in the past to support her older sister. She said the event really stuck with her and made her start thinking seriously about her future. “…it made me want to prepare for the future more and make sure I had my finances looking good ahead of college,” she shared.
The Global Gala is something a lot of people look forward to every year. It’s a chance to celebrate students, make new connections, and help support futures all in one night.
