The Beginning of the End
After four long years, the moment has finally come. Senior year is coming to an end and graduation is right around the corner. While I am beyond excited to close this chapter of my life and further my education, there is a lot coming up and a lot to look back at. I have had a fair share of ups and downs, but realizing how far I’ve come has made me realize that while high school may be just about over, there is a whole world waiting for me. But for now, I need to face the last few days of senior year.
At the beginning of my senior year I told myself that it will take forever for graduation to roll around, and that the end will be so easy. I realize now that I was very wrong. This year has been quicker than any other year of my life. With capstones finishing a month ago and in two weeks final exams await us seniors, I now know how stressful it can be to graduate.
With everything coming to an end so quickly, I feel as though I need to balance the stress of final exams—which are incredibly stressful—with enjoying my last few days at GLCPS with my friends. It’s a challenge that has proven to be hard, but I’m enjoying every second of it. There’s so much excitement with prom, senior field day, awards night, etc. It feels like there’s so much to celebrate, and in all honesty, there is. Almost all of the students in 12th grade have been with each other since 5th grade, and this is so bittersweet for me. We have all watched each other grow and now everyone is moving on to accomplish great things.
So while at the moment everything may be incredibly stressful, I’ve enjoyed the ride. Every challenge I have faced, every moment that has felt too hard to overcome, it has all brought me to where I am today; about to graduate. It has been a pleasure to experience the chaos of high school with my friends and peers. Great things are coming, but before this part of my life comes to a close, I want to face the stress of finals and enjoy the little things that make the stress worth it.
