Emily Zeida Day
Written by Emma Moniz, Class of 2026
Two years ago this week, GLCPS lost a beloved staff member. Emily Zeida was a wife and a loving mother of two young children. She loved working with kids as a Special Education teacher here at Global. Mrs. Zeida also found joy in family time, making crafts, baking, and wearing fun, vibrant clothing.
The entire GLCPS community was shocked when she died. That shock and grief turned to the sharing of memories about her kindness, her joy and her creativity. They spoke about how she made them feel seen as a student. One holiday season, Mrs. Zeida crafted hats for her students to wear together. It was one of the many ways she expressed her love for the people around her.
As the anniversary of her passing approached, GLCPS staff and students were encouraged to wear colorful clothing and unique earrings today. Anyone who knew her knows that she loved to get creative with her colorful wardrobe and to wear vibrant earrings. She was the definition of a colorful and kind person, and she expressed that through the clothes and earrings she wore.
Dressing in her likeness did more than simply channel her love for unique things and expressing her style; it showed how she touched the people around her. Her kindness, care, respect, and support is appreciated by all whose lives she touched. This is not just a way to remember her, but to honor her and ensure her legacy of joy and kindness is carried on by all of us here at Global.
Emma Moniz is a senior at GLCPS. As part of her senior internship program, she is writing news articles for and about the GLCPS community.
