Guests will be able to take a 'world tour' through the school with various countries and cultures represented and 40 nations’ flags on display. The event will feature food, entertainment and acknowledgement of the tapestry of cultures present in New Bedford and the world. Several community groups have been invited to participate to showcase their cultures that evening. Additionally, students are designing and creating appropriate displays for the “global region” of their choice. Students will also present a fashion show of costumes worn around the globe.
Adonis Ferreira, Director of Student, Family and Community Life noted that "The Global Learning Charter Public School was so named to highlight the goal of educating for global citizenship and we will be celebrating the teaching of global competencies with this Cultural Bazaar."
The event is being held Friday, November 3rd, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the school located at 101 Nye Street. It is free and open to the public.
This is a very popular event at the school for our students and their families," said GLCPS Principal Lena Pires. "They really enjoy sharing the riches of their respective cultures with everyone in the community."
If you want to learn more about the school and the cultural mosaic of the city, come join the Global Learning Charter Public School community at this special event.
