Who doesn’t love a good challenge?

Beginning this year, the entire student body at GLCPS is participating in the All School Challenge. Each grade level can earn points by participating in various activities designated as challenges. For instance, the Rubik’s cube challenge was held not too long ago. Students could compete to see who could solve a Rubik’s cube the quickest. The winners scored points for their grade level.

Another challenge was Socktober. During the month of October, students donated socks for the homeless. The grade that collected the most socks won points toward their total school.

The challenge was the brainchild of Director of School Culture Darlease Monteiro. “It's an opportunity to have some fun during the school year while building school pride.”. The year-long event offers an opportunity for students to build relationships.

The class with the most points at the end of the school year wins a pizza party and ice cream at the end of the school year.

Many students seem to not be fully aware of what the All-School Challenge is all about. “We just know that at the end, we get a prize, but that's really it,” high school senior Gilmarie Marmol said.

Although the challenge has had a little bit of a slow start, Mrs. Monteiro is hopeful it will soon pick up steam.
