How About Those Mid-Terms?
January 17, 2025 - Ready or not, here come mid-terms!
Based on an unofficial poll of high school students, many are approaching next week’s tests with some level of anxiety.
The high school midterm examinations are held every year right before the end of the second term. Final exams are held right after the end of the fourth term.
Most of the students polled about the upcoming testing period said they are anxious and nervous with some saying they feel unprepared.
“I am anxious the most for math,” said Maggie Frates, an 11th grade student. Niralis Grillo, also an 11th grade student, has a different way of thinking about the tests. “I am excited because I’m ready to get it over with.”
Some students argue, what is the point, anyway?
One student, who asked to remain anonymous, said the midterm exams do more harm than good. “It is messing up my grades. We should only have a final,” she said.
But others, like Gladys Nieto Hernandez, feel differently. “ I think they are good because it keeps you proactive and an active learner. Also, you’ll remember stuff from the beginning of the year.”
While many students have differing viewpoints on the subject, one thing was evident: it is a stressful time for the test takers. Good luck, one and all!
