Books Rule at 3rd Annual Read-a-thon

Students choose the themes and the books for the read-a-thon. There is a good balance for all levels of readers and interests. Themes included graphic novels, banned books, and sports. Students could choose to read independently in a few designated spaces throughout the school. The goal was to have everyone read something they could enjoy or discover a genre that they would like to learn more about.
At least one teacher was in every room. Some teachers used technology and videos to enhance the group reading.

For some students, their favorite part of the day was having someone read to them.

The fundraising took part within the home rooms and there was some good-natured competition among the students.

Over $1,000 was raised this year. The funds will be used to purchase books chosen by students for the classrooms.
