The new 14.7 million dollar facility located at 453 North Street in New Bedford was completed last July and opened in time for the new school year. Along with providing meals for thousands of students, families are able to access the daily menus and information about allergens, calories, fats, and sodium for each food item.
“We are pleased to partner with New Bedford Public Schools on this exciting initiative,” GLCPS Executive Director Stephen Furtado Jr. said. “They have done an excellent job of providing nutritious, tasty meals for students. We look forward to a long, successful partnership and hope this leads to other opportunities to collaborate.”
GLCPS students have been generally pleased with the change, citing more extensive menu items and better quality meals overall.
