Matt Durant joined the staff at GLCPS in 2019 as a paraprofessional. He is the facilitator of the GLCPS Student Council which works to improve conditions both in the school and in the community. For example, In recent years, the Student Council has initiated a Socktober Drive, collecting new socks and toiletries that are donated to area homeless shelters. A graduate of Westfield State University, he worked as a Resident's Assistant while earning his Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in writing, and a minor in Film Studies. He builds connections with his students by finding common interests in movies, literature and other art forms. 

Mr. Durant has written a novel that he hopes to one day see published. Prior to joining the GLCPS family, Mr. Durant worked as a substitute teacher for two years, and completed an internship with EforAll, an organization that promotes and support entrepreneurs.
