What a week!
Congratulations to all our Student of the Month recipients! This was the first of many Student of the Month celebrations at which students are recognized by their teachers for exemplifying the GLCPS Core Values of Honesty, Trust, Respect and Hard Work. Photos of students who received these awards are posted on our social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
Parent-Teacher Conferences and Student Academic Progress Information
Parent/teacher conferences are next week! Parents/Guardians of middle school students, be sure to schedule a meeting with your student’s Team! Afternoon and evening meetings are being scheduled on Thursday, October 30th. Morning meetings are being scheduled on Friday, October 31st.
For parents of high school students, if you would like to schedule a one-to-one meeting with a teacher or teachers on a different day, please complete and submit this form. This is for high school students only!
Due to the Parent-Teacher Conferences, students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 30th. There is no school for students on Friday, October 31st.
Meanwhile, progress reports were posted earlier this week. Please check the Parent Portal for any information regarding your student’s progress. Students should be aware that grades for Term 1 close on November 3rd.
School and Community Events
Socktober is almost over! This is the final week to donate socks and personal hygiene products for those in need. This is a schoolwide event! The Student Council is collecting socks and essential toiletry items such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc. for distribution to area homeless shelters. It is one small way our community can make a big difference.
The annual GLCPS Cultural Bazaar is fast approaching! It is November 7th! Let’s come together to celebrate our diverse community!
Calling all GLCPS lovers of the spoken word! Save the Date! We will celebrate student talent, passion and creativity with a Poetry Night! The evening will feature original poetry by students. Poetry Night is happening November 13th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at RoyalT in New Bedford.
GLCPS Fundraisers
The class of 2027, our current 11th grade students, is holding a fundraiser next week! During every lunch shift, students can purchase tickets for the opportunity to guess the exact amount of candy in a candy jar that will be displayed right in front of them! Each chance to guess is $1.00. This fundraiser will be held during all lunch shifts from Monday, 10/27 to Wednesday, 10/29. A winner will be drawn on Thursday morning, October 30th.
Support the GLCPS Music Department at our One and Only Spaghetti Dinner on Wednesday, October 29th!! Yes, we will be serving up plates of spaghetti and meatballs while the band performs! Purchase your tickets from any GLCPS band member or contact Mr. Richard.
Finally, we are excited to share the student work of Emma Moniz in our weekly newsletter! Emma, a senior, has agreed to share her talents as a wordsmith as part of her internship! This week, she writes about the story behind our new mural. You can read Emma’s piece here.

¡Felicitaciones a todos los ganadores del premio Estudiante del Mes! Esta fue la primera de muchas celebraciones del premio Estudiante del Mes, en las que los maestros reconocen a los estudiantes por ejemplificar los valores fundamentales de GLCPS: honestidad, confianza, respeto y esfuerzo. ¡Las conferencias de padres y maestros serán la próxima semana! Padres/Tutores de estudiantes de secundaria, ¡asegúrense de programar una reunión con el equipo de su estudiante! ¡Se acerca el fin de Socktober! Esta es la última semana para donar calcetines y productos de higiene personal a quienes los necesitan. ¡Es un evento para toda la escuela! El Consejo Estudiantil está recolectando calcetines y artículos de tocador esenciales como pasta de dientes, desodorante, jabón, etc. para distribuirlos en los refugios para personas sin hogar de la zona. Es una pequeña forma en que nuestra comunidad puede hacer una gran diferencia.
¡La noche cultural anual de GLCPS se acerca rápidamente! ¡Es 7 de noviembre! ¡Unámonos para celebrar nuestra diversa comunidad!
¡Llamamos a todos los amantes de la palabra hablada de GLCPS! ¡Reserven la fecha! Celebraremos el talento, la pasión y la creatividad estudiantil con una Noche de Poesía. La velada contará con poesía original de estudiantes. La Noche de Poesía se llevará a cabo el 13 de noviembre de 6:00 a 8:00 p. m. en RoyalT en New Bedford.
Recaudación de fondos de GLCPS
La generación 2027, nuestros estudiantes de 11.º grado, organizará una recaudación de fondos la próxima semana. Durante cada turno de almuerzo, los estudiantes pueden comprar boletos para tener la oportunidad de adivinar la cantidad exacta de dulces en un frasco que se exhibirá frente a ellos. Cada oportunidad de adivinar cuesta $1.00. Esta recaudación de fondos se llevará a cabo durante todos los turnos de almuerzo desde el lunes 27 de octubre hasta el miércoles 29 de octubre. El ganador será sorteado el jueves por la mañana, 30 de octubre.
