It Is the Best of Times, It Is the Stressed of Times

Written by Emma Moniz, Class of 2026

It’s that time of the year that stresses seniors out the most. With early application deadlines just around the corner, it can be really daunting. Still, there is a lot of excitement about starting this new chapter. Many students are touring colleges, and thinking about all of their best options. We don’t have to do it alone, though. There are many resources being provided to the senior class in preparation for the upcoming deadlines, some of which are hurtling toward us as soon as next week.

One of the biggest supports through this stressful time is the College and Career Center. The academic advisers are scheduling meetings with students to discuss the best options for them. Not every student knows what they want to do or how to go about their career plans, so their assistance is very beneficial. Also, high school English teachers are supporting students as they write their college essays, offering help with revisions and edits. They remind students that their is help available: students don’t have to go through this alone.

Although it is a stressful time, there are things to look forward to. The Cultural Bazaar is tonight, offering students the chance to take a break and enjoy the variety of ethnic dishes being prepared by students, families and area restaurants, as well as a fashion show and student exhibits. Meanwhile, the upcoming field trip for Dual Enrollment students will be an opportunity to tour the campus of Bristol Community College to see what it can offer.

Yes, it is a stressful time and it is just the beginning. However, if seniors can take advantage of the resources and support being offered, we will be more than ready for those applications to go out.
