GLCPS Drama Club to Perform "Beetlejuice"

The show is directed by Ms. Polly Zajac, GLCPS Grade 5 science teacher with musical direction by Denise Bastos.

“We are dedicating this production and performance to the beloved Armand Marchand who passed away early last summer,” said Ms. Zajac. Mr. Marchand and his husband, George Charbonneau, co-founded the New Bedford Festival Theatre and co-directed the New Bedford High School Drama Club for decades.  “Armand had a profound influence on both Ms. Bastos and me. Both of us were students of his when we were in high school.”

Performances of Beetlejuice take place Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27 at 7:00 PM with a matinee performance on Saturday, March 28.  Doors open at 6:45 PM on Friday and Saturday, and at 1:45 PM for the matinee performance on Saturday. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis.

The GLCPS cast includes Robert DeMoranville as Beetlejuice, Abigail Urbina Lopez as Lydia Dietz, Emma Kochanek as Delia Schlimmer, Alex Poulin as Charles Deetz, Evangeline Piedade as Barbara Maitland, Aurora Mello as Adam Maitland and Penny Walters as Juno.

“This production is very much a student-driven project,” Ms. Zajac said. “The members of the drama club really wanted to bring Beetlejuice to our stage, and Ms. Bastos and I were more than happy to do our part to make that request a reality.”

Admission to Beetlejuice is $8.00. GLCPS students and children 5 years old and under are free.
