Applications are available on the school’s website and at the school which is located at 101 Nye Street, New Bedford. GLCPS is accepting applications for New Bedford students entering grades 5-10.
“We want to give New Bedford families adequate time to complete the application process and give our staff enough time to prepare for the lottery,” GLCPS Director of Student, Family and Community Life Adonis Ferreira said. “When it comes to the lottery, we must be sure that our staff has sufficient time to dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s in a very detailed process before we proceed.”
During its annual enrollment period, GLCPS begins accepting applications on December 1st. Normally, the deadline for accepting applications is the last Friday in February. The Blizzard of 2026, however, warranted an extension period.
Charter schools in Massachusetts are required by law to conduct a blind lottery every year to determine enrollment for the upcoming school year. GLCPS serves 500 New Bedford students in grades 5 through 12.
As a public charter school, GLCPS is a tuition free school. The only requirement for enrollment is New Bedford residency.
