Global Gala Returns After Two-Year Hiatus

The event itself will be held on April 30th at Allendale Country Club in New Bedford. It takes place from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.

Alumna and aspiring musician Sofie Lopes is gathering a band of fellow musicians to provide music for the gala. Alumnus and aspiring photographer Alex Dishmey will once again be documenting the event through photography. GLCPS seniors will be working at the event and Senior Class President Sabrina Costa will share a story about her journey from quiet 5th grader to school leader.

Besides the scholarship money raised during the gala, the event is sponsored by a number of civic-minded community partners who understand how the lack of money for college tuition can end a young person’s dream of attending or finishing their education. The list of sponsors includes: HRKnowledge, BayCoast Bank, Bristol County Savings Bank, Sylvia Group,

Construction Monitoring Services, JJ Cardosi, Halloran, Lukoff, Smith & Tierney, LLC, and

First Citizens Federal Credit Union.

For GLCPS students, the College and Career Center is an ally for students figuring out their future goals. Students attend career exploration and planning seminars throughout their high school years so that by the time they graduate, they have a career field and a plan for the future that is financially feasible. The CCC also helps students develop alternate plans so there is flexibility factored into their decisions. As class president Sabrina Costa says, “they didn’t tell me what to do; they guided me toward making the right decisions for my future.”

Gala sponsorship opportunities are still available by contacting GLCPS Development Director Amey Bissonnette. You can purchase gala tickets through the GLCPS website.
