GLCPS is a tuition-free, public charter school open to New Bedford students in grades 5-12. To be entered in the lottery to attend GLCPS, families must submit a completed application by 5:00 PM on February 28th, 2020.
Proof of New Bedford residency, such as a driver's license or utility bill, is required as part of the application process.
Prospective students, even those who have a sibling who already attends the school, must also complete a 2020-21 application to be entered into the enrollment lottery. Also, students who were on last year’s waitlist must submit a new application to be included in the lottery process for the 2020-2021 school year.
Prospective students and families are invited to attend any of the scheduled enrollment events.
GLCPS staff and student ambassadors will give tours of the school on Thursday, January 16th at 6:00 PM and Thursday, January 23rd at 3:30 PM. Individual tours will be scheduled upon request.
A Coffee Hour and School Tours will be held on Saturday, January 25, at 10:00 AM.
The annual Enrollment Open House and Winter Arts Show is scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 6:00 PM.
The Open House and Winter Arts Show for prospective students and their families includes a presentation on the school's curriculum and culture. Families can visit classrooms, view current student work, and learn about after-school programs. In the event of inclement weather, the Open House and Arts Show will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 6:00 PM.
The GLCPS Winter Arts Show is held in conjunction with the Open House to allow prospective students and families to meet and speak with teachers, current students and parents, and view performances by the Global Karate Academy, GLCPS band, and other student groups.
The enrollment lottery is Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 6:00 PM. In the event of inclement weather, the lottery will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at 6:00 PM. The lottery is open to the public.
Open to New Bedford residents, GLCPS serves 500 students in grades 5-12. GLCPS offers a small, personalized, college preparatory learning environment in which students are encouraged to realize their full potential, both academically and personally.
