Polly Zajac, an educator for more than 20 years, joined GLCPS in 2005. Walk into her classroom on any given day and you will find her students elbows deep in projects and hands-on learning. She also has a 5th grade website for students and families. She is a middle school science teacher and the GLCPS Mentor coordinator.Ms. Zajac received her BA in elementary education with a minor in Spanish from UMass Amherst and went on to receive her M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in literacy from Lesley University. She is on the board of the Schooner Ernestina/Morrissey Association and has been curriculum consultant for the National Park Service and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Polly enjoys music and performance as evidenced by her role as chorus manager of the New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus and support staff for the 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as directing the GLCPS Drama Club. She was first runner up for SouthCoast Teacher of the Year in 2009.
