GLCPS Community Donates Food For Area Homeless Shelters

1,758 non-perishable food items, close to double the amount Mrs. Pires had asked for.

Don't believe it? See for yourself!

To get the effort started, Mrs. Pires challenged every family to donate  2 non-perishable food items so that the school could collect 1,000. Well, that happened, and then some, with nearly double that amount being collected. A call was made to a local agency which picked up the food and distributed it to local food pantries just in time for the holidays.

"I was not at all surprised at the outpouring of generosity by our students and families," said Ms. Pires. "GLCPS families' generous spirit is one of the things that makes this school so great."
