During the event, Sabrina met Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Stephanie Pollock and Lieutentant Governor Karyn Polito.
The contest asked students from across the Commonwealth to write and produce a one minute public service announcement video showcasing what they are doing to keep streets safe when walking, biking or driving. In her video, Sabrina is walking along a sidewalk in New Bedford and describing the many ways to stay safe while traveling by foot. Her video is both informative and humorous.
For her work, Sabrina received an iPad, a $300 gift certificate, and a bicycle helmet and other bike safety items.
This is the second time in two years that a GLCPS student has submitted a video and been recognized in the contest. During the 2015-16 school year, Rebeccah Kish, who was in 8th grade at the time, received an Honorable Mention for her travel safety video.
