On Friday, the entire Freshman class participated in the Youth Civic Engagement Summit at UMass Dartmouth where they heard from several speakers about the importance of community service and then joined hundreds of other area students from New Bedford and Fall River in packing 10,000 food boxes for the disadvantaged. On Saturday, five GLCPS students were chosen to attend a Leadership Workshop for area youth. They learned about the numerous organizations seeking volunteers to help with projects. On Sunday, the student leaders led hundreds of other students from schools across the area to organize a harvesting day at the Harvest Community Farm. The produce will be donated to area food pantries.
