Please take note that the Greater New Bedford area is at increased risk for mosquito borne illnesses. Both EEE and West Nile Virus cause illness in humans. EEE can be particularly challenging as it can cause swelling of the brain. Until the first frost, GLCPS is advising families to stay indoors after 6 pm. If you must be outdoors, you may choose to use mosquito repellant for safety. Your risks are also reduced by windy conditions and/or temperatures below 58 degrees. Please consider your highest risk times from dusk to dawn. For more information, please visit the Department of Public Health's website at www.mass.gov/dph
